Hyundai i10 named Best City Car

Hyundai’s hugely-successful i10 has been named the Best City Car at this year’s What Car? Car of the Year Awards for the second year running.

Judges praised the i10’s high quality interior, ease of driving and list of features that rival those of many larger cars, with the i10 snatching the top spot from a large number of competitors.

The i10 an “instant hit”

The current-generation i10 was introduced back in 2013 and caused a stir throughout the motoring industry, with buyers and critics alike singing its praises, reflected at last year’s What Car? Awards.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai UK’s president and CEO, said: “2014 was a major year for the New Generation i10, which proved to be an instant hit with existing Hyundai customers and those new to the brand.

“We are delighted that What Car? has recognised i10 as the best City Car for the second consecutive year in what is an extremely competitive segment.

“This award is a testament to the superb design and engineering which has gone into creating this cleverly packaged car.”

Largest amount of storage in its class

Along with its impressive design, the Hyundai i10 also features one of the roomiest cabins of any city car, with a boot capacity of 252 litres which expands to a total 1,046 litres with the rear seats folded.

Powered by a range of frugal petrol engines with CO2 emissions as low as 98g/km, the i10 also offers sparky performance without breaking the bank or being too hard on the environment.

Jim Holder, What Car? editor, said: “Last year the Hyundai i10 stunned us by stealing the crown from the VW Up.”

“It’s just as nimble to drive and comfortable in town as the VW, but offers even greater practicality, class-leading refinement and loads of kit.”

He added: “Our choice – the 1.2-litre petrol – is wonderfully smooth, and quick enough to keep up with larger traffic.”

“In Premium trim it feels suitably expensive inside, yet still costs less than £11,000, which makes it stunning value. The Hyundai is a genuine threat to a lot of superminis.”

“Compact and stylish”

According to the manufacturer, the i10 also features best-in-class road noise levels, plus suspension specifically tweaked to deliver the most dynamic driving experience possible.

Compact and stylish, but uncompromising on passenger room or equipment levels, the i10 offers a highly desirable alternative to other city car, with high end features including Bluetooth connectivity.

The Hyundai i10 city car is available to buy from the Perrys Hyundai dealership in Luton now, priced from just £8,595.
