Convertibles Prices set to go through the roof
IT’S not the first cuckoo that heralds the arrival of spring but the first indication that the prices of second hand
convertibles are on the rise.
Well it’s happening now and the wise buyer will get in at the ground floor, so to speak, before values rise by up to 20 per cent in the next couple of months if previous years are any guide.
After the dismal winter we all want a bit of a tonic and nothing beats the fun of top-down motoring. Lots of us are doing just that and there is plenty of evidence that there is increased demand for
second hand convertibles.
At a recent auction for car traders some 400 convertibles ranging from MINI Cooper Convertibles to an Aston Martin DB9 V12 Volante and Porsche 911 Carrera S Tiptronic and in price from £4,000 to more than £50,000, all were sold to traders increasing their stock in anticipation of increased demand.
Buyers really would be wise to get in now because prices are certain to go up soon. For example, one trade analyst found that last year between April and September last year the values of a typical Mazda MX-5 1.8i increased from £10,450 to £12,350, a rise of £1,900 or 18 per cent before falling to £10,995 this month.
A similar trend was also seen on a Volvo C70 2.4i Coupe Cabriolet which rose £1,600 from April (£14,395) to September 2009 (£15,995) and a Renault Megane 1.6 Coupe Cabriolet’s value also fluctuated more £1600 over the same period.
As with all our second hand cars, we at Perrys only sell those we would be happy to buy ourselves and every single vehicle that goes on our forecourts has a thorough background check beforehand and comes with a warranty.
