Perrys is on Twitter!So perhaps we should say a bit about why, and how you can use Twitter to keep up with Perrys – one of Britain’s top car retailers.
What is Twitter?The Twitter concept is fairly straightforward: it’s a free to use online service that allows individuals and organisations to broadcast short messages (limited to just 140 characters) to other individuals (followers) who have chosen to ‘follow’ the broadcasts. You can also use it with text messaging on your mobile phone.A short message, or Tweet, like
“The gang’s all meeting up at the King’s Head pub on the High Street at 7pm so be there", which can be picked up on mobile phones as well as your browser, is a great way for groups of mates to keep in touch and tell each other what they’re up to.But Twitter has other potential uses too. It’s also a good way for commercial organisations to keep customers in touch with developments in products or services (and that is what Perrys is aiming to do so customers can keep up with our blog, and later we'll extend the service), and of course “Celebs", like Steven Fry, have become ‘followed’ by thousands.
How you can get Started…Before you can ‘follow’ your friends, favourite personality or car retailer (Perrys, of course!), or leave your own messages for others to follow, you need an Account.To set up a Twitter account, go to
twitter.com and click the "Sign up now" button. Follow the simple instructions; you’ll need to choose a name, called a “username", and you can upload a picture too. Once the account is in place you can send your friends your username or send them a link to your Twitter page so they can start to follow you, and of course you can follow anyone you choose too, by going to their homepage, such as
www.twitter.com/perrysmotors for example, and clicking on the “Follow" button.If you’ve got a Twitter account already just click on the “Twitter Follow Us" link on this page (top right) to go straight to the perrysmotors homepage.When you are following the "PerrysMotors" feed, you'll see a message each time we post something to this blog. There may be other messages too, about events and special new or used car deals on the
Perrys web site and in our dealerships. You can also send us messages, either for everyone to see, or in a "Direct Message", which will reach us by email.We look forward to seeing you on Twitter!
