The Vauxhall Ampera is appearing in a campaign devised by Prince Charles to improve the sustainable living of UK individuals.

It will feature at the eco cars exhibition of A Garden Party To Make A Difference - part of the Start initiative, which aims to encourage people to be more environmentally-friendly.

The event - which began yesterday (September 8th) in the grounds of Clarence House, Marlborough House and Lancaster House and claims to be the longest royal garden party ever held - runs until September 19th and is open from 10:00 BST to 18:00 BST daily.

In addition, the brand has called the spectacle the "perfect showcase" for its Vauxhall green car, the soon-to-be launched extended-range electric vehicle, which can achieve a 175 mpg and has a constant electric drive.

Other benefits of the motor include its ability to emit less than 40 g/km of CO2 and during journeys of up to 40 miles it will run on an electrically-stored lithium-ion battery and produce zero tailpipe emissions.

The five-door model offers 300 litres of storage capacity and has a decor that includes a Jet Black design with Dark Argent Metallic paint.

Moreover, there will be a host of stars at the event to drive some of vehicles, which could include the green Vauxhall car, such as Dragon's Den star Duncan Bannatyne and yachtswoman Ellen MacArthur, as well as motoring legend Sir Stirling Moss.

Hosting the eco-cars section will be Roger Saul - founder of Mulberry and long-time champion racer of historic vehicles - and presenter of Grand Designs and developer of eco-housing Kevin McCloud.

Prince Charles noted that he hopes the spectacle will be both fun and informative, adding: "This festival is just one way in which Start can help to demonstrate how we can all make a difference, however big or small the steps we take."
