The Motability Scheme has launched Motability Go Charge

For those customer who have or are looking to get an electric car on the Motability Scheme, you’ll be delighted to know that Motability has now launched Motability Go Charge.

What is Motability Go Charge?

It’s an electric card & app which has been developed by Motability in partnership with Paua and can be used to charge your electric car from Motability whilst on the go.

If you’re in the process of placing an application with Motability for an electric vehicle, you will get the card in your welcome pack, which will arrive in the post around the time you collect your new electric car on the Scheme.

Fear not, if you already have an electric car on the Scheme, you can request a Motability Go Charge card yourself by using the following link HERE and making sure to have your Customer Reference Number (CRN) at hand. The card will then be sent to you within a few weeks.

How does Motability Go Charge work?

This card and app will allow you to use over 45,000 public chargers for electric cars across the UK and, as opposed to downloading different apps and accounts, you will have access to the different providers all in one place.

This amounts to over half of all the public electric charging points in the UK and also includes 70% of rapid chargers.

It’s free to get the app and card, you will only need to pay for the energy you use, using the payment details you’ve added upon registering on the app. It’s important to remember as well that the tariff you pay will depending on the charging point and the speed of the charger you’ve chosen.

You can download the app from App Store or Google Play Store

What can I do on the app?

The card and the app go hand in hand, through the app you will be able to:

  • Use the map to find your nearest charging point (filtering them by connector type and speed if you so wish)
  • Check which charging points are available in real time
  • Access live support should you have any charging point of payment issues
  • Find out tariffs/costs and how to charge your vehicle from the charging point you’ve chosen.

We hope this article has given you more information about this new tool offered by Motability. However, should you have any further queries, please don’t hesitate to contact our Motability Specialists, who will be happy to help.
