Apprenticeships

At Perrys we pride ourselves in offering a top quality service in all areas of our business. By providing opportunities for bright and enthusiastic young people we reinforce our commitment to give the best to our customers. We aim to raise the standards of the public’s perception of the motor industry and their confidence in Perrys. Our apprenticeships provide excellent work-based training programmes that fulfil our employees’ ambitions and enable them to embark on a long and successful career with Perrys.

How does it work?

Our Apprenticeships schemes are for anyone aged between 16-24 with GCSEs in English, Maths and Science. They equip you with work-based training and nationally recognised qualifications in your chosen career. When you make the decision to take up a Perrys Apprenticeship, you enter the working world and will:

  • Earn real wages
  • Gain new qualifications
  • Gain new knowledge, key skills and confidence.
  • Learn relevant knowledge tailored to the needs of the automotive industry.

The Schemes

Perrys offer eight Apprenticeships.

  • Light vehicle technician
  • Motor cycle technician
  • Vehicle body repairer
  • Vehicle body finisher
  • Vehicle parts operations
  • Business administration
  • Vehicle Sales Executive
  • Customer Service Administrator

These vital roles make up the core of our after sales service and all are key to our business. Most apprenticeships take between 1 and 3 years and end with an NVQ Foundation L2 or Advanced L3. There is no time limit - it simply depends on you completing the necessary learning elements.

A new apprentice is enrolled on the relevant manufacturer’s training programme and is paired with an experienced, qualified technician who acts as their mentor.

Am I eligible?

If you have gained GCSE grade C in English, Maths and Science and aged between 16-24. Then yes, you are.

Perrys apprenticeships are sought after - we never have to advertise - our recruitment process picks out the very best of the bunch. You will have a probing interview and sit a set of tests that tell us if you are right for the job. You will soon find out if this is the right job for you. If you enjoy working on cars and vans, if you’re confident and productive with practical work and are great at solving problems then this could well be the career for you.

Above all you must be able to sell yourself to us. Ask yourself if you are keen to work and keen to learn. Do you have the ‘drive’ to complete one of our schemes and the ambition to pursue a long fulfilling career with Perrys? If you do then the rewards are great.

If I am not eligible.

If you haven’t got the entry qualifications but are within the age limit, you could stay on at school or attend a sixth form/further education college to study for your GCSE in English, Science and Maths. Once you have obtained these certificates you can apply to Perrys.

If you are older than 24 then you are not eligible for the schemes. But if you have the necessary GCSEs you could enrol at a further education college that offers NVQs either full time or part time. You may have to study at your own expense if you don’t qualify for an Education Maintenance Allowance. For clarification see www.automotiveskills.org.uk

Once you are qualified, keep an eye on our Vacancies page to see if the right job for you is advertised: www.perrys.co.uk/join-our-team . We will be keen to hear from you.
