Alfa Romeo's 159 model has been awarded the prestigious five-star rating from Euro NCAP, putting it at the front of the pack for its class.
The sophisticated 159 has once again underlined the company's commitment to safety and the protection of its drivers in all aspects, as the car takes the lead in passive safety.
As part of the design process for the new Alfa 159, the Italian engineers and designers have come up with a "premium" floor plan for the car, allowing stronger welding and higher performance materials to be utilised.
The car's shape and build are therefore extremely strong and safe. Inside, the Alfa 159 boasts as many as eight airbags and innovative restraint systems.
Airbags deploy to protect the occupants' knees as well as inflating along the side of the car, whilst the front seats include "anti-whiplash" restraint systems to prevent injury to the neck.
On the road, the car handles beautifully, with added electronic systems to keep it attached to the road at all times. Electric gadgets include a sophisticated Vehicle Dynamic Control system (VDC), Anti Slip Regulation (ASR) and ABS complete with EBD.
Hydraulic Brake Assistance (HBA) which cuts in during emergency braking is also included, as is a Hill Holder to simplify hill starts.
The Alfa 159, is one of the safest and most enjoyable cars on the road – a fact now confirmed by its Euro NCAP five-star rating.
