Bosch to supply spark plugs to Alfa Romeo

A number of Alfa Romeo models are to be fitted with platinum spark plugs supplied by Bosch to help improve performance.

The company's 3.2-litre V6 engines in the 159 saloon, Brera hatchback and Spider convertible vehicles are set to benefit from the new parts.

Bosch claims that its spark plugs, which are also supplied to a number of other car manufacturers, are designed to optimise the performance of direct injection petrol engines.

According to the firm, the materials and design ensure that the spark plugs have a service life of more than 60,000 miles, while also contributing to the high power output of the engine.

Alfa Romeo's Brera model, which accelerates from zero to 60mph in 8.1 seconds, was recently voted the best sports/coupe vehicle by What Diesel Car? magazine.

Commenting on the Brera's performance, motor journalist Simon Hecker said: "Grand touring couldn't be grander."
